The Genentech Scholars Program seeks to provide an inroad for diverse students to gain access to the biotech industry by awarding financial assistance and internships at Genentech, with the possibility of job placement after graduation.

Since its inception, the program has awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships. In total, the program has helped 98 students pursue their educational goals and further exposed them to the field of biotechnology through work on significant biotech projects. In 2009, Genentech Scholars plans to award ten $5,000 scholarships at the high school level, ten $7,500 at the community college and undergraduate level and three $10,000 scholarships at the graduate level within the field of science.

The program is open to students who meet eligibility requirements and who are enrolled full-time at one of the following designated educational institutions in the Northern and Southern California areas:
